CVTSA's Nurse Practitioners

At CVTSA, we are proud to work with nurse practitioners (NP) who enhance the care we provide by seeing patients at our offices before and after their surgery. When you meet with one of our NPs, she will complete your medical history, conduct a physical assessment, talk with you about your pre and post surgical care and work with your doctor to develop your specific plan of care.

Nurse Practitioners have advanced practice degrees that allow them to function as independent medical providers. They are licensed and trained to diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, write prescriptions, order lab tests and perform physical examinations. Nurse practitioners work in collaboration with physicians. They were Registered Nurses first and then earned Master’s degrees to become Nurse Practitioners.

Because of this specialized training, sometimes your post surgical appointment will be with an NP, rather than a physician. If at any time you have questions you would specifically like to ask your physician, please let the NP know and she will ensure your doctor responds to you.
